Rusty Old Shotgun

I don't think I will ever fire this old beast as welded barrels just don't feel good in my hands as well. No trust factor for me with it. I agree the bent bolt is a strange question and the tear drop shape as well but the action altho rather stiff does work. Yes I have put 2 coats of tonque oil on the stock and it does look much better now and probably will cold blue the barrel if the boss wants it done. Should make a real nice wall hanger. Thank You very much for all who have helped me with this project. The Rustavapor product is simple amazing I can honestly say as well. Very quick and extremely easy to use for sure.

My boss handed me a very old Shotgun in 2 pieces to-day which is covered in rust. Its been wrapped in newspaper about 40 years now and stored in his basement. He brought it back from Greece way back then. Its a single shot with a bolt action on it. What would you folks suggest in order to start cleaning this up as it does look like it can be salvaged. Very unusual bolt shape on it. I can send someone a pic of it but cannot seem to be able to post online. The stock is slightly cracked but is original to this gun and possibley can be saved as well. Any suggestions will be appreciated. It also has a very large trigger on it as well.

Quite possible a Gras converted. I see Brutus beat me to it! :p

I have dug deeper and have discovered its definitely a 1855 Gras rifle made for the Greek Military. This model with the bent bolt handle was used by their artillery crews and were highly rated for their accuracy at the time as well. Many were converted between the 1st and 2nd world wars into sporting guns by cutting off the barrels and welding a newer one on. It was either made by the French Gov or the Armanian Gov under contract to Greece at the time.
