"Rusty" the Lee Enfield

Did a small test fire this morning, +- 25 yards, I did not measure.
The 2 cast bullet did not stabilize, I have other bullet that are a bit bigger that I will try some day. However the Hornady 174 grain did a good enough job to let me know that this gun is a shooter !
I'll start the full wood set for it as soon as I can.

My guess is that he probably got it for 50$ a year ago and wanted to re-sell it quick with a small profit. I just had to wait long enough.
He also has a Mosin that someone cut the front of the barrel, removing the front sight. He was trying to sell it to me, I check it, and I ask him how he can aim with only the rear sight. He looked at me with a puzzled face, realizing he has an un-usable gun to sell......
Good thing is that he knows I like Lee Enfields, so if someone bring him one I'll have an e-mail about it...

Rusty will be my deer hunting rifle. I took the laminated buttstock I had made earlier, the scope mount I have, and a el-cheapo 4-14 Vector scope, and I will paint the whole thing OD.
Not the action, do not worry, only the stock. I have plans for this Lee Enfield, recently bought all the metal parts to redo a full-wood version with it. For now I need a deer gun.
First thing I will do is bed with Devcon the sporterized stock, first the action, and when the action bedding is done, I will do a pressure point up front, using Devcon also. This will put all the chances on my side. Next Friday I will start working a load with Hornady 174 RN and IMR4350
Next step is to clean the excess Devcon, bed the front, and paint.

Ok, so now the front is bedded as well. I cleaned up the action bedding. It is not perfect all around, but in the chamber area and behind the trigger it is perfect, so it will be good to go.
Then I removed the sling swivle that was there, happens to be a 5/16-18 thread, so I installed a bolt to give the proper barrel tension during the front bedding. Bedding is now complete, next is sanding of the stock and the OD paint.
Range test next Friday, I am ready with the Hornady over IMR4350

Yes, bayo lug is there and intact. And I have all the metal to make it nice again. This stock I am working on right now will be her fall/winter clothing.....
I paid the Lee 60$, scope 120$, and the scope mount around 30$ IIRC. Laminate stock was free (made it myself)
So as of now I am a bit over 200$. Can't wait for Friday. I'll be happy with 1 inch group, very happy with less.
