Rut

I'm reasonably new to hunting ( deer) , so my question is ,, When will the rut start ? Keep in mind I'm talking SW Ontario we just had 4 days of 60 degree weather . Is it on or not ?

Should be starting. I 've seen some stinky older mulies this last weekend, but the young whitetail I shot was just starting to rut. Depends on the critter's age, but this is the beginning. Get in your stand and make some noise.

Already started in NS. Usually early Nov. Bucks are getting a bit less cautious but like was said stinky time is coming.

Its been on about 3 days in SW Ontario. This has been the wierdest year for me in 10(serious) years of hunting. We've got alot of standing corn right now (Essex County) and can't wait for the Dec. rut to get to see all the deer that are holed up in the corn fields. This has been a strung out delayed rut. Things are starting to kick pretty good now.

Piles of rut sign in my part of S/W ontario, the standing corn is a nightmare though. The bucks are chasing, rubbing and scraping, only challange is finding them out of the corn.

Shot a 3x3 Muley with a bit of mass a couple of days ago. Definitely a bit of smell to him, but still some fat on him too. Eagleye.

Saw 1 yesterday in full horned up mode, chasing a doe.
