My name is Richard Wale and I have been on this forum for 10 years. I had trouble with my old, now unsupported hotmail account, so I switched over to apple and switched my old email to a new iCloud address. I found it a lot easier to create a new account under Gunnutz as I change functions under my old login were disabled!
My career started off in Regina, Saskatchewan as a computer analyst back in 1979. I went to the Yukon with SystemHouse in 1986 and was contracted to the Yukon Territorial Government (YTG). Spent a few years contracting and joined the YTG just before Christmas 1989. Worked for YTG for 26 years and retired after 15 years as an organizational development and training consultant. We retired to Salmon Arm, BC where my in-laws live.
When I married in 1987, I took my wife to the Yukon and we raised a family there. My father-in-law, the WW2 Veteran is still alive today and turns 100 yrs in 2025. He built me my first gun, a 30.06 Springfield on a Mauser Action, with a target barrel and lovely chequered walnut. My 30.06 was my meat-in-the-pot gun; it fed us on bison, moose, caribou, black bear and the odd Dall Sheep. After a running not a grizzly sow and two cubs, I decided to go to a 338 Win Mag that had a bit more umppfff!
The Yukon and my father-in-law set me on a path of having fun, being out in the wilderness, fishing, hunting and and target shooting. Here in Salmon Arm, BC I spent over 4 years as Club President of the local fish and game club. I know participate as one of their Directors and shoot out at the range. In my spare time I do firearms instruction.
There you go, 35 years in a few sentences.
Cheers. Richard
