Hey everyone. I recently acquired a Shiloh percussion Sharps. I have burned 1 pound of 1F powder in it and i am thoroughly enjoying it. There is one fly in the ointment and that is reliable ignition. CCI musket caps just do not have enough spark and they are the only type i can find. A friend at our local shoot today gave me some RWS musket caps and they definitely have a lot more "umph" to them.does anyone know of a source for them? The part number on the container is 1081.

Cheers. Steve.

I feel for you. Here in UK all we can get are the #1081 RWS musket caps, and, as you note, they could set a cup of coffee on fire. Sorry I can't help - perhaps Mooncoon can offer you some advice on a likely dealer in BC.

tac, missing Quatsino

A percussion Sharps has a very long and convoluted channel that the spark from the percussion cap has to travel. Hence the reason it was designed to use musket caps. That being said I think a big part of the problem is when I'm using paper cartridges. When the breach block shears the paper it also pulls the paper down, thus covering the powder charge from the spark. Even nitrated papers don't seem to help.

There are nipples that would allow you to use the regular #11 caps.
