I am very confused as to what I am seeing on the internet .... Is the Anschütz MSR RX22 and the ISSC MK22 MSR two different guns or the same gun ?
My understanding is that they are two different guns that looks exactly the same on the outside but the Anschütz is made in Germany and the ISSC MK22 not made in Germany but then again I have seen a few websites saying the MK22 is made in Germany as well :{

same gun. different barrel, trigger, and stock on the rx22.
could be some other differences but the mk22 is the cheaper version of essentially the same gun (with cheaper components)

Is the RX22 really that much better than the MK22 ?? Did they sort out the MK22 issues they had in the beginning ? The RX22 seems to be much harder to find, Canadian Tire has the MK22 for $699

Check out the site sponsors. Bet you can get one cheaper.

Mk22 is sorted, I've had mine for a long time. Only issues i have are ammo related.

Some others may have other experiences though. Is the anschutz version better? Without ever having touched one, I'm quite sure it is. But if you just want a cool looking plinker, the mk22 should suffice

Mechanically, they are the same though.

Maybe some users here with an rx22 can comment on their experiences

I just found Kelly's Sporting Goods post in the Equipment exchange for the RX22 and bought one !! :) will need to sell my 10/22 Nomad now
Cant wait to get this in my hands !!! :)

RX22 in Canada

Please be cautions which 'RX-22' your purchasing.

I worked with Anschutz to help develop the 'G' Model was specifically designed for the Canadian market to be non restricted with an overall length of over 660mm when folded.
I have been informed (but have not confirmed) that apparently someone in Canada has imported a lot of the folding models from an over seas supplier(not Anschutz)which have a length shorter then 660mm when folded. This would make this a restricted firearm in Canada. Keep in mind Anschutz builds a lot of different models designed for markets around the world.

The 'G' Model is easy to identify...Longer barrel threaded on the end for a flash suppressor.

We are the only authorized importer from Anschutz for the RX-22 in Canada. We did not import the RX22 rifles being offered by some other retailers.

See data sheet below used when we obtained the FRT # from the RCMP for importation of the RX-22 'G'.

If you get the precision though it dosent have a folding stock and I think is better overall for and extra couple bucks I have yet to shoot mine everthing feels and looks well crafted. From the issc to the anshutz the main diffrence in the issc has a thinner barrel which has a shroud over it where the anshutz is a one piece design with a heavier barrel I wouldn't call it a heavy barrel but it's Defently a one up on the issc but that being said it's more money if it's just a fun plinker your looking for go for the issc if accuracy is one of the things your looking for go anshutz. Once I shoot mine I'll have a range report up since there isn't much info on them for other people looking at picking one up.

Check out Rimfire development and research...

This guy goes into a lot of detail on this rifle. Mine can be pretty accurate if I do my job - something that I'm still figuring out.
That being said mine was very picky with ammo (federal 36 grain, mini mags, and blazer bulk worked really well, but I experienced numerous light strikes FTF with Winchester, Remington Golden Bullet, and American eagle ammo)

Brought it to a gunsmith a couple times and they have a fix that involves cutting a small amount of the firing pin spring (I am assuming for better fit?). We will see if this remedies the problem.

Overall if I can get mine to shoot reliably with lots of different types of ammo, then I will say it's a fun accurate gun... but it requires careful cleaning and maintenance (both of which are not as easy as a 10/22).

Well, unfortunately for me this isn't the last time I've had problems with my rifle. After the firing pin fix, it required a barrel trunnion tightening. Then on my last time shooting it, the bolt casing cracked.

Turns out it was a batch of early production rifles with known defects. Not impressed with Anschutz Quality or Service at the moment since they did nothing to inform those that had these potentially defective rifles until, like myself their rifles slowly fell apart.

But, when you can get it to shoot (before the bolt casing cracks), you can get nice groups....

Here's the cracked bolt...

5 Shot groups at 25 Yards by a not so good shooter.. (and then the bolt cracked)

Wel, you could measure it when its folded and see if it is under 660mm when folded and you will have your answer, no one can say for sure without seeing the rifle you have in your possession. Don't panic, I am pretty sure you have the option of pinning the stock to make it not restricted if it is indeed less than 660mm when folded.

I just measured the gun, its not even 630mm :{

Yeah unless you really want the rifle you have now, I'd return it and get a refund. The shop should know better than to be selling them as non-restricted when they are indeed a restricted firearm.

Thats the relevant RCMP page on restricted firearms and this is the relevant section pertaining to your rifle

C. a firearm that is designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm by folding, telescoping or otherwise

Thank you everybody... I am sending them an email now! I am very nervous having this gun in my house though :{

Don't worry about it bud it isn't a huge deal, but it is something you need to get sorted out soon. I'm sure the business you purchased it from will be willing to refund your money and take it back or pay to have the stock pinned for you if you would like to keep it.

Contacted Kelly's and they seem very helpful so far. Said that they must have received short barrels with the long barrels and will send me a new one once I send this one back!
