Ryan, I bought a Taurus Model 66 357 Mag 7 Shot Blued 6" Barrel last year off you, I opened up the grips today to think about replacing them with a set of woods and found this.

Honestly it looks like it was piss poor made someone decided to do abit more grinding and didn't clean it up and then rusted before i got it, since i've had it for about a year and but maybe 200 rounds through it.

You sold it for a great price to me, But it was sold new and this is very bad frame, and to those trolls out there, I am not going to clean it up myself as this is a MANUFACTURER DEFECT, and i shouldn't have to. Whats the warranty on these, because its is a major manufacturer defect. I wish i had stripped it down when it got to my house last year. I believe this falls under The Taurus Unlimited Lifetime Repair Policy.
Honestly i don't know how they would repair that as its ground down on one side more the the other and rusted badly because of that.
Ryan can you advise what can be done?

Exactly what is wrong with it? Are the tolerances out, or are you more concerned with the rust? From the pics it just looks like it is a bit rusty, and if that is your only concern, I highly doubt Taurus will do anything; rust can be cleaned up quite easily.

the hell? looks like some jabronie drilled the hole in the frame off-center then tried to fix it with a die grinder. wonderful job. :eyeroll:

i'd figure that should be replaced under warranty. definitely looks like a manufacturer screw up

Not sure how good their warranty is in Canada but their website says "This warranty does not cover grips, sights, accessories, cosmetic defects after one year..."

Dont believe you will get another gun from Taurus.
I doubt they will say its "major manufacturer defect" but just a "minor hidden cosmetic defect" within limits of manufacturer's drawing dimensions and tolerances.

Personally, I would be p*ssed but I would not use a thread to pressure SFRC, I would call them first. Just my trolling 2 cents.

ya, if you have had it for more than a year you are just going to have to fix it yourself, if it is just the rust that is the issue, that can be a DIY fix quite easily. Lesson learned and we've all had these types of things happen, next time strip it all apart within a week or so of acquiring it and check it over.

That isn't a cosmetic defect its a ground section of the frame that is rusting on the gun, I call that a manufacturer defect, or better know as a big #### up. There should be a refund or a replacement done.

Is it preventing the firearm to function correctly as it was intended? Is it a safety concern? Is it in anyway creating a problem with the intended purpose of the overall function of the firearm?

Didn't think so.......

Put the grips back on, and enjoy shooting it.

+1 right after dealing with the rust issue. Its not like it's gonna become a collectable or something...

Oil it up put the grips back on and shoot it.... and whatever you do, don't lift up the carpet of your new car and look at the finish and paint job underneath ;). All kidding aside the finish work on the hidden areas of most products today are very poor. My 2 cents

They are discontinued so we cant get you another one but at the least we'll give you a full refund.
