S.H.O.T. '09........................ New Magpul .... "EMAG"

They are a standard AR mag that fit the dimensions of an ordinary STANAG mag. Think P-Mag without the 'waffle' that can be used in a 416, SA-80, FS2000, etc. They will unveil a 7.62mm version as well.

At least that is my guess;)

There are two 7.62x51 proto's out there for the Mk11/SR25 platform (and Massoud).

Travis lent me one for the SOF shoot on Wednesday - it ran like a champ thru our SR25 BattleRifle - retail to be $20

The EMag is indeed for the Hk416/SA80 - still work in the M16FOW though, and they have a newer PMAG - and the new windowed version with be a larger window (both width and height).

Is the window in the diagram too low or the labelling (i.e. 5, 15 and 25) incorrect?
I'm thinking it should be 25, 20, 15 :)

It says that it is determined by an orange coil, so lower than the follower i guess.. Im sure you cant see rounds in the window when it is at five.

The problem I have with polymer mags based on my experience is they have a high coefficient of expansion/contraction and when used in the warmer temps some polymer mags expand causing slight fitting problems and also the lips become softer and flex outward slightly from the upward spring pressure when fully loaded with 25-30 rnds. This deforming of the the lips can cause some feed problems.

The other problem is in extreme cold the polymer contracts quite a bit changing the measurements slightly, sometimes to the point that proper fitting becomes an issue along with the mags becoming brittle and breaking easier than steel or aluminum.

But I would like to test a couple in the future within the extreme elements to see if the magpuls are immune to these problems.

I know some companies have been adding rubber and other additives to polymer to mitigate these problems so it would be interesting to see if these mags are all the rage people are claiming they are.
