Has anyone tried the S&J hardware barrels on their ar15?
they are canadian made and the price is attractive.

how are they quality wise? precision?
can someone please post a review?

thanks

I asked the same question a couple of times and no-one answered, so I went and bought a WOA 14.5 1/7 for double the money. Figured it probably is more than twice the quality.
Sry cant help you out.

I have bought and used 4 of their barrels....my oldest one has more than 3000 rounds through it, and it still shoots well. No issues with them, good price and they are Canadian made. My newest build is a 16" version, and I find the newest batch of barrels are even better looking than the last ones I bought 6 or 8 months ago.

I installed a 11.5" with a yhm upper & bolt. About 300 rds fired. No issues. Mind that it's not chrome-lined, but that's not a huge problem given the absence of corrosive 5.56 on the market. And that a restr. rifle doesn't stay very long outside in the rain...

how was it grouping compared to other barrels??

Do you guys always use a low profile gas block on this barrels?
I just pick up one and planning on using an A2 FSP but the barrel is not drilled for the pins.

You would have to drill the barrel...not really something I would attempt. However, if you look around, there are clamp on A2 front sight bases (YHN etc...) that will work just as well. Or, use the low profile gas block and a good free float rail. I'm building another upper with a S&J barrel....I'll post some pics when I am done.

I have heard, but not seen for myself, that these barrels were parked without a plug in the gas port, which allowed the park into the bore.

Because of this rumor, that no one seems to be able to definitively confirm or deny, I refuse to buy one of these barrels.

Seriously? Do you really think anyone on CGN would accept a defective barrel without either getting the product replaced, or whining for 12 pages about the problem?

Every manufacturer will eventually release a dud, but the key is how they then deal with the issue. I confess to having been a friend of Simons for something like 10 years now, and trust me, he ain't perfect. However he's smart enough to park pride when there is a genuine problem and address the problem.

I have an 11.5 that is going on an Armalite COP upper build. I will let you guys know how it shoots when I get it done. Probably about 2 weeks, realistically. Phil

Goodmorning
Let me start by saying the bbls we have been making for the last 6 months are 100%
Petrock. Feel free to buy one of our ar15 bbls. Shoot it clean it. If your not 100% happy with it return it COD for a full refund.
Contact SFRC for an order.
The bbls are non chrome lined. And that really is not an issue for most of us as we are not shooting full auto.
All it meens is that you are going to get better MOA from it, most of the time.
We use 4350 steel. About the best
We did havea small batch where some park got inside all bbls were testfired anf then sold off to customers for less then cost.
A total of 325 ar15 bbls have been made and we have had 5 with incorect gas port and 6 with park in the bore.
