S&j ar500 armor tell us what you want for next production run UPDATE FIRST POST

We have posted this many times on CGN in the last few months.
The product that the company called AR500.com is not the same quality of product we offer.
They offer basic flat steel all the way up to XL curved plates.
1 ours are made 100% in canada those guys we found to be buying plate from mexico while saying made in the USA
2 ours are 3/8 inch not 1/4 inch.
This is not the US. Taxs are 4 times what they are in the US
You can't export hard armour from the US as a civi.
If you could the shipping would prob run around $60-80 us. For a set of plates.
We run 100% quality control on our product and independent balistic lab test. As well as field tests and our own in house Eng P
We are bringing this product to market at the very best price we are able, but as this is a safety product every step in making. Our plates are 100% quality controlled
Hope that helps
Go a search lots of post on this subject
BBB

Oh, I see BBB beat me to it.

Wow I wasnt expecting those prices. Ar500armor.com is reasonably priced on their website, but really expensive here. Why is that? Cant the ar500armor.com armor be imported for significantly less expensive? Not trying to troll. Just wondering. Yes I understand there's is an exchange rate. And print needs to be made.

This set of plates is about half the price of a lot of single composite plates other guys are selling. It's the best way to get into a set of armor that you can trust without breaking the bank, armor isn't cheap. Not really something you'd want to cheap out on regardless, steel is going to be heavier but that's a small price to pay for protecting your vital organs if god forbid you ever need too, these are very reasonably priced for what you're getting.

What knife are you running on there?

thanks guys for posting
I think I may have to write a sticky on this subject,
bbb

Yes. I think a lengthy sticky on body armour would be of great value to our community. It would also serve well if it covered the different levels, and types of armour, along with the different advantages and disadvantages for each as well as the different features each provide.

Here are mine and my brothers, the Mayflower APC in Kryptek Mandrake has the newer shooters cut with lighter spall coating and the Ares Armor Derma in ATACS has a set of the rectangular plates from the first run. My brothers a big guy and doesn't seem to need the shooters cut to shoulder a rifle, I prefer it personally. Fairly new carriers so we haven't done much to them yet, both are mine but haven't decided if I want to keep both or give him one yet. Really like different things about both and would recommend them to anyone looking for a carrier, they're pricey but can be found on sale (I paid around 200$ for each).

Triple curve isnot advisable for steel due to possible stress fractures unless you pressed into the compete shape in one go idont know anyone that can so that to plate that thick and that hard 1

I've sent you a pm concerning a us company who claims to have done this without stressing the plate. Fyi

Another question for the armour FAQ. Do you guys think a trauma pad/soft armour backing is required for ar500 plates. Any actually testing on what it might feel like behind a stand alone ar500 plate? Of course with the weight of these plates, less is more if possible.

You just asked if a "stand alone" plate needs a backer,
No
ie stand alone.
You would be hard pressed to get a backing plate into your carrier ontop of this plate unless your carrier has a separate sleeve just for soft backers.
But once again not needed

Can you confirm the weight of the 10x12 Shooters Cut Heavy Spall Plates? I just did and it came out to 28 lbs for the 2 plates.

Did you guys accidentally send me the wrong one, since your ad states there about 4kg each, so it should be around 17 lbs.
