S&j curved, shooters cut ar500 armor with line x anti spall!!!!

Would it be possible to get a single shooters cut plate to use as a front plate with a rectangular set bought from you guys in the last run?

I just bought a set of the shooters cut for myself so I would need 3 total if possible.

BBB, are you offering a discount on plate carriers like you did with the first batch of ar500?

it has been such a crazy few weeks with testing and meeting with suppliers and such, I forgot all about that.
we are delayed on our 500 US made plate carriers, seems many are ramping up for the next big one.
But I do have 15 or so of the tac pro gear plate carriers, Ill put them on sale till they are gone.

$150 NOW $124.99
USE CODE 1* (only if you buy plates) or it will be $13 shipping

Do those carrier fits the previous batch of AR500 Plates ?

Are the front plates in these sets single or double curved?
The plates are all single curve.
It would be cost prohibitive to do these is muti curve, the cost for the forming die for working with AR 500 plate was exstream.
It would take 3-4 dies to make it triple curved

Very interested to place an order but before I do I need to check dimensions, specifically those pertaining to the shooter's cut on the upper side of the plate. Assuming at one point the plate was a simple 10x12 rectangle before it's angle cut to the SAPI style, how far in from the sides horizontally along the top edge do the shooter's cuts begin and how far down the vertical sides do they end? Kind of need to know this so I can see if the plate will fit properly to my body (cardboard mock-up) while providing adequate thoracic area coverage but also not interfering with proper arms-extended presentation of a pistol onto a target. In other words, can I draw and present a pistol without the armor interfering? If I cannot then I will have to look for a "medium" sized armor plate instead.

Many thanks,

FlyGuy

What is the difference between basic and full anti spall?

And will you guys be making smaller sizes, for smaller guys?

as for what curve it is, that I cant really give you that info as I am not the engineer, my partner is.
But I can tell you we based this on about 8 different MFG that we have sold over the last few years.
I can see if I can get an answer on that.
As far as it fits and how well the shooters cut works, we have asked just about everyone that we knows how to shoot to try it on with a basic low profile carrier.
everysize from my wife at 120lbs and 5 foot 1 to 6ft 4 180 to me at 511 and 220. no one has any issue getting the gun up other then my wife she had to have here elbows flexed a little

The difference is the type of anti spall and the cost.
As the finish is a Lic name brand product, that is quiteexpensive Paxcon http://mitigationtechnologies.com/products/paxcon

The Heavy spall coating has to be prepped then has to be layered a few coats at a time then a the top coat to make it look good. this is a lot of material, so the cost is more.

The basic spall coating is the same but less.

One last question, what is the purpose of spall?

Also, On the plate carriers on sale is there anywhere I can add moral patches? Or is the fabric thin enough, I can get my GF to sew on velcro on the top, for me to add my funny morale patches?

The TPG plate had a 6 inch x2inch Velcro strip on the front just above the top molly row.

The spall coating, it for when a round hits the plate which is AR500, very hard steel, the round splatters on the hard surface, the spall coating helps absorb the fragments .

Awesome, thank you for your help in picking the one I want.

I chose the full anti spalling, to help mitigate the fragmentation.

Order is placed.

EDIT 2014-11-16
Found the answer I was looking for and the 10x12 will in fact work ok. Plates ordered, now waiting with barely contained anticipation! :)

Hi folks,

I wasn't actually looking for the curvature or bend radius of the plate but rather the measurements of the angle cuts done to it which transform it from a simple rectangle to a rectangle with a taper on both sides towards the top edge. This tapered cut allows the shooter room to bring his or her arms up in front of their chest without having the armor interfere with that arm movement. What I'd like to know is how wide is the top edge of the plate (will be less than 10") where the angled cuts begin and how far down the side edges do the angled cuts end? I've tried to lookup SAPI standards for the plate dimensions but all I get are the basic measurements (10x12 for large), there's no mention of the angular cut done to the plate so I don't know how it will work for me unless I mock it up first with cardboard and see. That aside, I am also struggling with whether to go with basic or heavy anti-spall treatment and just how much more effective the full treatment is compared to the not so full - is the weight penalty really worth it if one is wearing a decent enough plate carrier?

Sorry to be a pest but I want to be certain I order plates which are the correct size for me rather than get the wrong ones and have to return them, if possible or sell them if not.

It's a standard shooters cut either your plate carrier is shaped for it or it isnt..
Simple go by the 10x12 measurement and assume the width to be slightly under 10" due to the curve.

(This is what happens when I miss reading CGN a few days... these get announced!)

Any thoughts on selling sets with one shooter cut and one squarish cut plate? The question was asked in the other plate thread, however no definitive answer was given pending these ones being available.

Cheers!
