I picked up a fluted linear brake from S&J hardware for my 10.5" AR and have had a couple of chances to shoot it so I thought I would share my observations.
First off the fit and finish on my brake are top notch, no machine marks or sloppy machining, everything looks symmetrical and well balanced. The fluting is nice and clean with no machine or chatter marks and the flat black finish was spot on.
The brake looks great on the gun and even though I went with the slightly longer version to get the fluting ( come in 1 1/2" and 2" ) it doesn't seem out of place or too long.
I have put over 200 rounds through it and what I have noticed most is that I'm not getting a face full of muzzle blast when shooting indoors from a port like I have in the past with short AR and even longer ones with other types of brakes/flash hider, all the muzzle blast goes down range.
I also liked the way it controlled the muzzle flip and allowed me to stay on target making for quicker follow up shots using a 1-4x20 scope. I know that sometimes if there is too much muzzle movement it takes me a second or two to reacquire my target.
All in all I am very pleased with the brake and looking to purchase a few more goodies from Simon, also want to give him a shout out for getting my last order to me in two days, glad to see shipping speeds are improving.
