S&L M65 7 X 61 new to me

Most accurate load in his gun was 139gr Hornady SP/64.5gr H4831/CCI 250/3.19 " OAL/2975 out of a 22" barrel

64.5 gr H4831 is my best weight for that powder with 145gr Speer in my rifle also , I went up to 65.5 and still grouping good bu no better and not much fps gains after 64.0 either

Started playing with the same bullet etc with IMR 4350 and so far went from 59.0 to 61.0 with no pressure signs and MOAish groups

I'm liking this round - just about 7rem mag velocity (2980) with slightly more than 7m-08 recoil
The rifles growing on me also

Me too. I was hooked after I saw my first S&L in the B.C.central interior, mid 60's. At that time an old eastern European gunsmith in town stated, the two 'features' that made S&L the stand out that it was are,
- A very high standard of workmanship and quality
- And, the barrel quality to or above that of Douglas air guage.
With the three S&L's I have, accuracy results have never been an issue. MY only downside on S&L's, the stripping down and re-assembly of their bolt. At present, :redface: a little beyond my pre metric era skills.

The stock on my 7x61 was bubba fixed at the rear of reciever . I'm looking at trying to fix it up , I've bedded the recoil lug but want to take the trigger off to bed the rear . Is it the two pins to remove ?? Or maybe I'll try to cover it with tape /putty .
My groups today showed improvement , maybe the bedding helped maybe not . But I want to try and fix the looks at the back of reciever from the back

There is info on a couple of sites that may be of help and/or interest to you. Try checking out and/or googling the following;

Well , I finally tried this again with some 120gr tsx and am having much more consistent groups .
I'm still doing more with the 139 hornady s , I'll get 2 or 3 touching and one about 1.5" out the faster I go , and I was key holing with above 140 gr bullets . The " fliers " seem --off round

Next time I'll use the chrony and have more info .

Added note , I can't neck size these cases , maybe because of the rear lugs ? Full size every time or tight chambering , so much that I dismantled the first ones I did
