I have a Ruger M77 MKII lefthand, it's S/S with the shinney finish, my buddy just picked up a Ruger hawkeye in matte finish, I want my rifle in the matte finish and ruger doesn't make any lefthand rifles in the S/S matte finish. Where can I get this done, if I can. I'm not afraid to send it anywhere in Canada because no one does it here in NB

Bead blasting is your answer. I had my Ruger MKII beadblasted.

You could possibly find a machine shop near you that has a bead blaster, I would think you would want to plug any areas you don't want blasted like the chamber and barrel.

"...find a machine shop near you..." Unfortunately, you can't just go to any machine shop anymore. Any business that does anything to a firearm has to have a 'firearms business licence' and any employee who handles a firearm has to have a PAL. So do the owners and/or directors. More Firearms Act stupidity.

i took my custom ruger 308 to my favorite gunsmith and he blasted it for $65. its a nice soft grey colour and the texture holds oil nicely.

I didn't know that, what a load of bull.....

Tell your smith to use low pressure and USED beads when blasting the Ruger Stainless, and you will end up with a very attractive "PEARLESCENT" finish, with a soft/dull "GLOW" to it.

I've done a few Ruger redhawks and security sixes, and thet came out GREAT!!

Ummmm......are you sure, or just offering an "opinion".
"Anything to a firearm": I repair/re-finish stocks, what is the diff?

If I take my rifle to a machine shop, and have them blast it, even if they are not a PAL holder they are under the direct supervision of a PAL holder (me), and therefore completely leagl in handling the firearm.....same as taking a non-PAL holder shooting. Legal, as long as you are there.
