Well I like the look of them and smith makes a quality product, but I don't think any of us will retire on profit from a few firearms, actually I will likely have to work longer to support my gun habit!

See the problem I have with this statement is the fact the winchesters were mass produced and it is proven these 1911's are a limited number. I paid $1100 and being current model elite series retail for more than that. I am already ahead. If it gains in value great. If it doesn't, what did I lose.

Some they made thousands of, some they made 150 of....doesn't take away from the cheese factor and nonexistent appreciation of value. Few people want them today because they have too much ugly "bling".
Scroll work can be nice and interesting when done by a master, not mass produced by CNC machines. The way it's done on these guns looks more like an after thought, and not exactly nice or professional. There are a dozen things they could have done better with these commemorative pistols....first would be by making it unique rather then pulling them off the assembly line like Winchester did, and dress up regular models....
 
Yes Hitzy, I see your point. Can we agree to disagree perhaps? Personably I love the looks and feel of mine. And IMHO its pretty good value even if all you want is a shooter.
