I'm not sure that still applies to the new, recently released "classic" Model 19 (I think that's the gun the OP was referring to)

From what I understand the new guns are a different design than the vintage Model 19's from 40+/- years ago.

I've been curious about that as well considering it's a K frame. If I end up getting one I'd probably just use it with light 357 loads. I don't own any 38 Special brass but that's nothing some Trail Boss in 357 brass can't fix.

Early 80's, I had a 19; shot one 357 Mag, the gun binded.
I bought a 66 not long after, shot one 357 Mag, the gun also binded.

These new 19's a built different, the barrels and everything are stronger than original. I will put this vid up again from Jerry to explain it for those who haven't seen it. These new 19's are as strong as N frame guns including new barrel system.

That only holds true if using high volumes of hot 125gr ammo on the old style K frames.

That, and the fact that most of your shooting will likely be 38 spl in any event. I own a 586. Granted, it is the slightly beefier L frame, but I probably shoot 50 rds of 38, for every 357 that I put through it.

I saw this thread and it couldn’t be more true about how they seem to fly off the shelf!
Last week I decided to see what retailers actually had them! Tenda, Flahertys, and bullseye all sold their one each in stock in a matter of a week!
Thank god I found one is stock at select shooting supplies! I jumped on it as fast as I could with the wife’s permission! God bless her because who needs to pay bills and feed the kids for the next 2 weeks!! Haha I needed this!
Awaiting transfer and beyond excited for my first revolver!!
After watching michuleks video on YouTube and sootch and mr. gunsgear... I was sold!
