S&w 1911 Hard Chrome

Just got a s&w 1911 nickle with black. I noticed the black parts are poorly finished (lots of scratches), so I was thinking of having the parts re-plated (hard chromed slide and black chromed parts). Has anyone done this with their 1911? and is it legal given our crazy gun laws (transporting no problem, but leaving parts at a shop???). If it can be done, is there a recommended shop in the lover mainland of Vancouver that anyone can recommend? I also noticed the trigger is lose and sloppy, (easy enough to replace), any one else notice this on their S&W 1911?

There's no need to find a shop near you. You can mail the whole gun to any gunsmith in the country.
I had a Glock slide hard chromed by Rodger Kotanko in Ontario.
