I bought one brand new and took it to the range without even cleaning it. First round out the barrel was a bullseye at 7 meters. Feels real nice and shoots nice as well. My 14 year old granddaughter has shot it and likes it as well.
the finish will ware off any pistol depending on how you care for it. If its in and out of a holster a lot then its going to get worn. im not sure if these pistols are more prone to wear than others tho
I have both the PD and the stainless version. (pics in the 1911 forum) I like them both.
If you plan on shooting it a lot. I recommend the stainless version.
The 5" barrel is a little more accurate and the heavier stainless helps for recoil.
The PD would make a great carry gun. Very light and more compact.

yah i know it depends on how use care for it, but i heard that the finish can basically start to flake off, and thats no good.
I was also thinking if not the PD of getting the S&W tactical. A little more weight at the front to control recoil.

IMO I'd go for a Kimber Custom II in stainless
