S&W 22 victory fail to fire problem

Dear SW 22 victory users,
I bought a Smith wessen 22 victory a few weeks ago. At the first range visit, it was mostly positive experience, but I do have about 10 fail to fire for the first 50 rds, it seems if I pull the trigger slowly, nothing will happen. but if I release the trigger, then, pull the trigger quickly, it will work. After 50 rounds, it happens much less often, I only about another 5 problems for the rest of 100 rds.
So I thought maybe the gun need to be broken in.
But on my second visit to range, the same thing happened, about 8 to 10 fail to fire at the beginning of range session, then better but still happens occasionally.
I only use the pistol as plinking, but sometimes it can be frustrating when you finally stable the sight but the pistol refuse to fire.
I do field stripped the gun after each session to three major parts and clean and lub. Althought I did not touch the sear and hammer.
Anyone has the similar problem? Any suggestion?

It sounds like the trigger stop is incorrectly adjusted and you don't have enough trigger travel to consistently release the hammer.

Thanks everyone!
@The Shepherd, as usual, Imay have a less perfect copy.
@smokeater40, It doesnot looks like a light strik problem. Because the hammer did not even move. As ammo, I tried Winchester super x, Rem target, the result is about same.
@tjhaile, I will disamble the pistol, try to figure out how to do that. Maybe just been the over travel screw is to set to small.

Me too, had some problems with Smiths before, but got repaired with warranty. In fact, I owned 4 pistols, only one had zero problem was a glock 17 ( but I sold it to finance other hobbies, which i regret now.)

Finally problem solved.
It seems sometimes the trigger bar is not completely upward even with magezine inserted, which disengage the magzine disconnect safety. If the trigger is not completed upward its like the guns safety is on. That is why when I pull the trigger nothing happens. Looks like the trigger bar spring is not strong enough to overcome the friction between the trigger bar and the casing. So I disasemble the pistol, clean, polish some rough edge on trigger bar, and lub trigger bar.
Today, I run about 150 rds, zero malfunction except the takedown screw become loose again after about 100rds. Maybe I need to put loctile or a star washeer.
Thanks to everyone for your help.

Good to here you got the Victory running. We have a young shooter here in West Monroe, LA shooting Steel Challenge with the Victory and does well with it! Now try some GECO or RWS ammo and see how it shoots?
