I've got an old S&W 2206 target pistol. I picked it up used so I don't know it's exact age or history but, based on the lifecycle of the product I'd say it's 16-18 years old and has has many thousands of rounds put through it (I've put over 1000 through it since October).
The trouble is that it has ejection problems (I've taken to calling it my Jam-O-Matic). Frequently, the spent casing will not eject, the extractor will slip off the rim and leave the case partially stuck in the chamber (ejected cases will occasionally stove-pipe in the ejection port but this is more rare). A drop of oil on the first round in each string helps (In a 60 round match I'll only get 2-3 malfunctions instead of 7-8) but it's far from perfect and it really fouls the gun fast.
I don't think it's a cleaning issue... the gun jams just as much when it's clean as when it's dirty (although there's a "sweet spot" where it's just dirty enough to work well for 10-30 rounds). I have noticed that the chamber seems a little tight. Ejected casings are well scored (which doesn't happen with my other .22LR firearms).
Any thoughts on what I can do about this? I'm almost wondering if I should get a smith to open up the chamber just a little.
