I have a line on an excellent condition S&W 25-2 Model 1955 revolver in 45 ACP. The seller wants $600 and I have no idea if this is a good deal or not. The gun comes with a S&W presentation case and some moon clips. Anyone familiar with this model and is $600 a decent price for it?

$600 is an absolute steal! Think "1/2 price".

If it's in very good to excellent shape the gun alone is worth $1,000...with the presentation case maybe $1200 and even a bit more again if the cleaning kit, screwdriver and papers are still there.

$600 is a complete rip off, walk away fast....then send me this fellows name so I can contact him and give him a piece of my mind...and work out a deal. Er, Hmmmm, yes. Really, if it's in good shape you should pay him more on principle. Really is stealing it at that price. Offer him a couple quid more, he will be happy, you are still well ahead of fair value. That's what I'd do. A friend offered me his five screw, 5" pre Model 27 for less than fair, I upped it a couple hundred because we were both happy that way. Just my advice.

If it is in excellent condition, grab it!

I'm with Twisted on this one. It's a great deal, but I'd feel bad taking advantage of the situation. Good Karma goes a long way. Had a Sako L579 offered to me for $450. He said when I talked to him that it was in okay shape. When I went to pick it up, it was almost new with the box. I gave him the cash and he started counting it. He said I gave him too much and I said that I wasn't going to take any of it back. We both went away happy. Three months later, I got a call from a friend of the guy I dealt with. He wanted to liquidate some Sako's. The guy called me up because of how I dealt with his friend. I gave him a fair price that we were both happy with.
