S&W 357 reloads not fitting in chamber in one gun but ??

looks and sounds like a very heavy build up from a lot of (probably light loaded) 38 spl. I've used the brush chucked in a drill trick as a last resort and it works. You may have lead build up as well. A bronze scraper can be your friend here if you have access to any small pieces. The coiled stainless brushes (rolled instead of straight bristles ) are good in the drill and less erosive as the sharp tips don't drag on the chamber. Maybe pull the cylinder off the crane and soak it overnight in a good solvent

Just a heads up on carbon cleaning on pistols.I use GM penetrating fluid or foaming top end cleaner. It is very effective, but be care ful,it is not happy with wood nor plastic.
