What would be value of nice S&W 38/44 Outdorsman, shown on picture bellow? I am talking about postwar production, before so called “short action” was introduced. I am not big fan of 38 Special, but this one I’ll grab in a heartbeat. Thanks, Onty.

I think $5-700 would be right for a gun in top condition like the one pictured.

The Blue Book has other ideas, suggesting $700-$1950 for prewar guns, $425-$1125 for guns made from 1950-1957, and $750-$2250 for guns made from 1958-1966. Our laws have certainly impacted gun values!

Wow, that one's nice. Probably ~ $650'ish on the Canadian market, though. And only because it's in such nice shape.

NAA.

Although it's not the same, I purchased a Pre-War S&W Heavy Duty that was once carried by a BCPP officer.
It was hardly shot, no rust, but has honest holster wear.
I would put the blueing finish at about 85%.
Personally, I did not mind paying 500 dollars for it. (for some that's too much I guess)
PS: If the ambient light does not beam off the half-moon front sight, it's a very accurate shooter. Double action pull is superb as well.
Finding fine qualities like these old S&W sixguns, in any handgun, is a rarity these days.
I am not a collector, my guns I buy to use them.

Edit: Any of these big'ole N-frames are real pussy cats with factory level power, 38 special.
Onty, your pictures display two different handguns BTW. Maybe you are aware of this?
