I thought the 4506 had a 4 inch barrel.

Wasn't there a 4506 with a (close to) Commander length barrel? Or am I thinking of a different model? - dan

I know my former S&W 1066 10mm had a 4 1/4" [aka 4.25" aka 108mm] barrel. But still restricted. So, if there is a "chopped" version of the 4506 I'd bet it would be like the 1066, a shortie but still 'restricted'.

I'm betting the one in the EE that says it's a 12(6) has been mis-registered. The CFC should've caught it but I bet they'd require it to be 'verified' so it could be correctly registered/reclassified with it's correct designation as 'restricted'....

There are a few 3 3/4" models like the 4513 and 4516 and others, there are also some 4 1/4" 45's like the 4563, 4566, 4567, etc. They are all just different combo's of steel or alloy frames being either traditional double action or DAO pistols.

Good info.... However, the one for sale in the EE is advertised as a 4506. The model number "4506" can be seen in the pics. Also, in the pics the barrel certainly looks to be 'restricted' length to me, no prohibited. ;)

I would say that you are right since my 4506 has a 5" barrel just like the one on the EE and mine is just restricted. I am a bit of a S&W enthusiast so I just happen to have a copy of the Standard Catalog of S&W beside me most of the time, it is great for deciphering the different models when they come up for sale on the EE.:D

Sounds like somebody got "free" 12(6) status! Excellent! ;)
