S&w 4566

I have a SW 4506-1 with aprox 9K throu pipe and I can say that is one of my elite pistols.
Super accurate and never had a problem, can eat anything and everything, fully recommended!
 
Just buy it. It is on EE. I am salivating over it. I had 4506, and it was the most accurate and reliable handgun I have ever had. I would even give it an edge over Sig( and I had one). 4566 is the same as 4506, but slimmer profile. My 4506 was kind of bulky.
 
Go for it. I do not think S&W will ever make another semi-auto as nice as this one. My 4506 was eating the crappiest reloads when Gold Cups and Para-Ordnance were choking on the same stuff.
 
yeah I agree that the 4506 was bulky being the second gen, but the 4506-1 has a slim third gen frame and in yr case the 4566 is also a third gen.

First two digits - caliber and frame type
39xx - 9mm single stack magazines
59xx - 9mm double stack magazines
69xx - 9mm compact, double stack magazines

10xx - 10mm auto
45xx - .45 ACP

Third digit - trigger type and frame size
xx4x - DAO
xx5x - DAO, compact
xx8x - DAO

xx2x - DA w decocker
xx3x - DA w decocker
xx7x - DA w decocker, compact

xx0x - DA
xx1x - DA, compact
xx6x - DA, large frame

Fourth digit - Frame material (all models had stainless steel slides)
###3 - Aluminium alloy frame
###6 - Stainless Steel frame
 
I've never understood why people didn't like the 3rd Gen Smith Autos. The trigger was a little mushy but they were both extremely accurate and very reliable, and the fit and finish of every one I've seen has been excellent. I owned a 3913 that was just stupid accurate for a short barrel 'hideout' gun. I always wanted a 4576 (short 45 with a frame mounted decocker lever) but there were very few made.
 
The 4566 is to Colt like the comander,great stainless pistol! I loved mine just enough till I saw a Rossie 937x of 2,000 stainless lever rifle in .45 colt.

And I traded a stainless 4566 for a lever action rifle!

Even though I traded it of I still wish I could have kept it!

I have enough .45acps but the 4566 is a real keeper!

Buy it you will love it!
