At work to day around 1500 I called in a reference # that was taking to long and the customer was wondering WTF, the transfer was canceled because the V was verified wrong and came out to 103 MM if the compensator was removed. I informed her that the compensator was recessed in to the barrel and the barrel remand at 5 inches, the registry was already closed, so she emailed them and said that I was going to send in pics of the gun and that I would re verify the firearm on Monday. Any other dealers have this problem yet. I’ll let you know on Monday the results.
 
I will check the barrel tomorow but the outer piece is 5" From what I can see it is two parts, if the CFC thinks so it will go prohib. I hope they will let it slide do to the fact it is not easily removable, and the outer piece is required to retain the barrel.

Looking at your pictures it is close. But it is also obvious that it can not be used without the barrel end piece and no one is going to use it without the compensator anyways.

They really should consider (a) that you can't make it shorter without a LOT of work (if you even could), (b) this is a very good gun for people with wilderness ATCs, (c) with the X frame (the biggest yet) it is hardly a small gun still. It's not going to be used by criminals in a crime for consealed carrying.

A criminal would use a much smaller gun that could be easily shortened if required. And a semi.

Have you seen these 460s? They are BIG! 11.25" overall and almost 4 pounds!

Really hope this works out for the law abiding Canadian citizens.

This is ridicoulous...seems the CFC is having hard time deciding if this is a restricted or prohib?

I went through the same thing when I was looking into buying one.

The 460V 5" is/was classified as restricted otherwise dealers here would have never gotten one?

I would be very worried if I was the owner of one of these...but hey...that might be a way to get a 12(6)?

If the CFC decides this is a prohib what do they do if there are a bunch in Canada...confiscate with compensation setting legal precidence for future compensation or...classify owners with 12(6):dancingbanana:

I think I might just buy one of these after all...:rolleyes:
 
My thought is that there is an "extension" beyond the end of the barrel.

With the restricted Glock 19s coming in, all one has to do is swap out a barrel to make it prohib. The Smith would require a good hacksaw or machining.

Hope I'm getting my point across.

Plus as mentioned about the dealers getting them in, new. MUST be legal because CFC approved them..................
 
Ordered 1 from WW last month. Just got a phone call from WW they said they can't get it anymore cause of CFC prohib 'em. :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead:
 
well you can always get a 5in .454 Raging Bull which should be even smaller because of the shorter cylinder...the gun has 'internal compensator' so it can't be removed :)

btw there will be .460 version as well, not sure if there will be one with 5in barrel though...
 
That's pretty silly... doesn't the compensator fit inside the "barrel"??

How exactly does removing the compensator SHORTEN this firearms barrel length? The barrel looks to be proper length.

Am I seeing this properly? The barrel seems to have a shroud?

If that is the case, and what I see is a shroud around a seperate barrel, than this is a done deal.
 
I just don't get any of the BS around barrel length. If we're going to have repressive laws why don't they at least make sense and restrict the overall length of the firearm. I could take the 8" barrel and shroud off my old Dan Wesson revolver and shoot straight from the cylinder if i was so inclined (and I'm not).
 
They are 105, problem solved. The CFC was originally stating they would only take the rifled section as barrel. They changed their mind when forcing cones were mentioned. Damn fools.
