What a freakin big gun!

A guy showed up to the range the other day with one and some handloads.

I let him use my Chrony and he was doing about the 1500 mark IIRC.

But geeze does it kick!

thats not a handgun, its a rifle!

You could dam near poke the target from the firing line with that sucka!

I would love to see the carry holster for that monster . It looks like 240Gord is so excited that his nipples are hard...

Great elephant gun
They are a 'handful' and I think 240gord is in the process of trying some of the handloads I've made up for the owner. With full house loads using 440gr cast or the Hornady 500gr, to 'tame' the recoil somewhat or make it a little more bearable, I've modified a set of custom grips.
I talked to 240gord at the Gun Show in Duncan this past weekend and he mentioned shooting the 500 and I think he was impressed. If he ends up getting one, it may signify something more than 'hard nipples'.;)
Holsters are available and I have one, a sidekick made by Uncle Mikes. I'm planning on using it if my handgun hunting trip to Alaska for Moose materializes.
Oh, you mentioned "Great elephant gun". I have an article by Mark Hampton of The American Handgunner titled 'To Africa With A .500 S&W'. In addition to a Cape Buffalo, an Elephant was also taken.

One of the members at TSE let me try his .500 S&W, and his Ruger Redhawk .454 Casull a few weeks ago. The.500 seriously pushed me back a step when I fired it (forgot to lean into it a bit :p), but I found the .454 had more felt recoil on the hand. Thanks guys, for lending me the shooting gloves :). Big fun.

I bought this book by Hampton recently from Amazon.
Handgun Hunting: How to Travel the World in Pursuit of Wild Game!

After we get Concealed Carry in Canada, I'm going after HandGun Hunting!

You & me both guy, you & me both. It's a great 'dream' for the future but we're having 'problems' getting the long registry abolished as promised, getting the 'dream' to come into reality is a bigger hurdle yet. About the same chances as the proverbial snowball in hell.
