There is a nice looking 586 Nickle on the EE. My take on the value on a decent blued 586 is around 600-700. What sort of premium would you think reasonable for a Nickle model? (S&W Forum suggests $100-150 but that is US market so may not apply here)

Nothing. I don't rate nickel guns being nicer than blued. Obviously most folks do rrate them as being nicer than blued but you would have to discount a nickel gun for me to take it. Call me crazy.

Your not crazy. Remember us collectors are just crazy, we want what other people don't have.

had a 6 inch nickel one that the original owner had sent to S&W for a performance center trigger job. Sorta wish i kept it, but i really hated the nickel.

Someone once said to me who would pay 1500 for a python I bought. Sold it a year later for 2500. Now it's worth 5g's. The pictures don't even the smith justice. It's an exceptional peice. Over priced? Maybe. I doubt we will be saying that in a few years, I am just ahead of the curve.

Glad you like it. That is the only important part in IMO. Too many people value their "stuff" based on what someone else would pay for it.

Be aware that certain cleaning products will not react well with a nickel finish. Some people love the look but my concern is the extra maintenance that it requires. If you're willing to put in the work, go for it.

It's pretty unique. i have a model 25 in nickel. I'd look more closely at this one if I had more than 2 pennies....Err...nickels to rub together this month.

It'd get admired more than shot, no doubt. I'd like to buy a blued 25, likewise, to be a range mule, and save the pretty one for the odd treat or when I'm taking a lady out to shoot

Now there is a idea, his and her's,at the range, if you are still at that age in life, I an't.
Colt tried that years ago with their Lord an Lady derringer sets, p.o.s. But than colt never made them any way, I degress.
I had a nickel python, way to pretty to shoot, That 586 s-w is the same.
Then get a blue one to go with it. As along time colt guy, the gun I shoot most was a s-w586
To bad we can't display under glass any more
