Hello to all -- I am new to this forum and was hoping one of you knowledgeable gun enthusiasts could tell me the approximate value of an older model 586 (no dashes) in good condition, blued finish, and 6 in barrel. I bought it new 17 years ago and have used it for PPC but has sat in my safe for 10 years. Thanks.

I really think that a lot of these older Smiths are undervalued. To me, these pre-lock, pre-MIM revolvers are much more desirable than the new ones, and yet they'll go for maybe only 50%-60% the cost of a new one. Something like a 586, especially if its been shot mostly with .38 rounds will last thousands and thousands of rounds.

I bought a no dash 586 with 6 inch barrel Jan 2007 for $599. It is in very good condition with a beautiful smooth trigger system. It didn't come with any accessories - not even a box and anyone who's tried it says it was a good deal.

Thanks for the info guys. Mine is in vg cond and has only had 50 rounds of 357 through it. I also have a set of hogue and a set of packmyr grips plus a new spring for lesser trigger pull.
