Is this classified as a prohib? I know that anything less than 105mm barrel is a prohib, and that a 4" barrel is only 101.6mm, but do they count the chamber length in the 105mm?

It wouldn't be possible to change the barrel to a 5 or 6 inch to make it restricted, would it? The person who owns the pistol didn't even know that it was prohibited. It is registered, however.

Hi again

Free is always a good thing, but you still have to find a longer barrel, and that U.S. border is a big problem. A custom barrel will still cost more than a good used 6" gun.

Unless you are 12(6) It's the current owner that has to change the barrel, and get it registered as restricted before you can enter the picture. And seeings how he does not have it registered correctly in the first place...........

I have a 686. My friend has a 27 with a 5" barrel. He bought it used. It is sweet. Does anybody know how to get a 5" revolver. Too bad I cannot own a 4".

Corey3, I am the odd man out. Why? If it is for toting I prefer a 4" M19/66 aand if it is for hunting/range I like the old N-Frames. I owned and shot a 4" M586 for a while but I find L-Frames to be neither fish nor fowl. Give me a K or N Frame 357 mag, 41 mag, or 44 mag. Regards, Richard :D
