Hello,
I've been thinking about adding a S&W model 627 TRR8 to the "collection".
Was wondering if anyone has any opinion/experience with this revolver.
Also, where can I source one in Canada and how much are they going for...
without the accessories?

Thanks,

I have one. Slickest factory trigger I, or any of half a dozen other people who've tried it, have ever felt. Definite 'glass rod' on the SA, very smooth and no stacking on the DA. Easy to stage from DA, if that's what you like.

The barrel's interior is a lovely mirror finish, no tool marks. Good lockup and timing, cylinder gap is a bit large for my tastes (.006") but good enough.

The cylinder is milled for moonclips and the gun comes with three (and the spiffy "Performance Center" case and some trinkets). Using the moonclips is optional - cases eject just fine without them.

It's the most accurate revolver I've used (not that I've used a lot of them).

I like N-frames, and I like the grooved grip, but that's personal taste.

For pricing, call your dealer. Or try gunbroker and use Questar to import.

.

 half a dozen not including me, I'm gonna pout now!:(

(Its a seriously gorgeous revolver just sitting in the hand, maybe if I suck up enough I can fire it some time)

My Opinion is that for several reasons this is the "best" "home defense"
handgun ...
put laser/flashlight on it ... load with .357mag or .38 special ammo ... is "idiot proof", can be used by wife or child with minimal training.

It's on my "must have" list.

But holy crap does it look RETARDED with scope and a light...

If I owned one that looked like that, I'd be embarassed to show someone. Looks like a Buck Rogers special.

"Buck Rogers special"...too funny, canuklehead. Personally, I'm not interested in the accessories but I do like the HG. There's something about S&W Performance Center HG's that I like.

This was my "other" choice...note the unfluted cylinder.

I'd imagine that using the "tactical" intermittent light mode with your left thumb is out as the barrel cylinder gap leakage might smart.

Either a pressure pad switch or leave the light on exposing yourself.

It would make a dandy camp/black bear carry piece for those with ATC.

At 35 oz with a 5" barrel, that would be very easy to carry in the field.
