S&W 629 Classic 44mag Grips

If the new Pachmayr grips are shaped like the older ones I found them to be too "thin" side to side. I've got fairly big hands (Xlarge glove for most brands, large for others) and found that the Pachmayr shape gave me a good fit front to back but that they didn't "fill" as well side to side. Hogue is better from that standpoint for me.

Is your gun a round butt frame or square butt? I really like S&W factory combat grips on my square butt N frame revolvers--they look like this--( although the gun in the picture is a K frame ) N frame square butt grips are identical, just larger. I have large hands and I really find them comfortable. However if you like them be prepared to dig deep as they are expensive-

I believe my gun is very close to what is shown, mine is a 629 Classic 44.mag. it must be a K frame but I really do not know what a N frame difference is. Those grips you are showing are beautiful, do i buy them from S&W direct?

I have small mitts and the Pachmayer are great on my model 29. I don't think they would be the right ones as BCRider has said.
Don't know about the Hogues.
I have the stock wood grips for my Model 29 and can't get my hands around them. Would that not be the right ones?

All 29/629 S&W revolvers are N frames. They come with two shapes of grip frame, square butt and round butt. The grips in the picture were once a S&W accessory, you would probably find them at a gun show, or maybe old stock in a gun shops somewhere, or put an ad in the EE. You might want to try a few different sets before you purchase, just to see what fits you best. - dan

1. Cost effective.
2. Non-permenent - no risk - you can always take it back.
3. Can be infinitely adjusted to you exact shape and size.
4. Adhesiveness - as the glue eventually oozes out the gun will stick to your hand better.
5. Attractive and neutral grey colour is a sure aesthetic match, every time.
6. Possible celebrity sponsorship by Red Green.
7. And, of course, the RANGE CRED that can only come by the statement that this will make for you....it says that you're a rugged individualist (translated: would you want to mess with a guy with a duct taped gun handle? I mean, really??)

How can you lose? The duct tape becomes entangled in the mainspring and the gun won't fire. Hard to have cred when your gun won't go bang.

Consider a trip to a good gunsmith for trigger work and action tuning (as required).
