S&W 645 vs 1911

No experience with the 645 but the 4506 was a good pistol. Trigger was never as good as a 1911 and they're bulky and shoot a cartridge that's kind of pointless when not used in a 1911 but they're solid guns and run well.

I think the 1911 is a better pistol (assuming we're describing actual 1911s built to spec, not the various 1911-shaped guns built by god knows who) but if you compare Colts manufactured at the same time as the 4506 to these...the machining is much better on the S&W. Of course those are the dark ages of Colt, and the Colts from that era still run great, but inside they're ugly as hell. Sometimes outside, too. I have never seen a bad example of a 4506.

Previously corrected...Sonny Crocket carried a Bren10...then a SW 4506 which looked very similar.
Altho a fictional character he did actually carry said firearms while being filmed...so it DID happen ! lol

The SW 45's are exc firearms all of them. Well built out of exc materials and very well engineered and designed.
They also are all accurate and reliable right out of the box and come with very high quality well made mags.
They are chunky monkeys....bigger hands like em best. The practical accuracy of them is also very high as they have great ergo's and deal with recoil well.

Underrated pistols for sure IMO....exc value for the money..particularly used as they don't hold their value as well as others.
Holsters and acc harder to source but are out there. Same for mags.

My SW 745 is a real sweetheart....single action, ###y, accurate wicked machine :)
