S&W 686-6 accessories for IDPA.

^^^^ Have a 4.2 GP100 that serves me well. Just wanted a 6 inch 686-3 and got a smoking deal on one. On our Steel League nites we have 4 classes including Revolver. I choose to shoot Auto and Revolver. The Smith has a nicer Trigger and that longer sight radius. Just fun. No longer compete seriously. IPSC was my game back in the Day.

Up against way faster autos, faster to reload, and holding 10 rounds not six, a 686 seems peculiar. The 6" barrel & holster makes it hard to conceal too. Add in at least 4 to 5 Safariland Competition III loaders on your belt, and what's the advantage? At the very least, if you must use the 686, wouldn't the 4.2" version be a better choice?

You're not shooting the revolver against autos. You shoot in REV (revolver) division, and wheelguns are a lot of fun. I do think the 4.2 inch is the better option, though, as the exception for Canada may not last forever.

Random question...... why do you say 6" makes it hard to conceal so get a 4.2"?
Because you need a slightly longer jacket? The handles stick out the same amount so printing is the same.

I personally shoot faster and tighter groups with a 6" over the 4.2" ones.
