S&W 686 or M&P 9mm???

I bought a revolver for my first gun and while I don't regret the purchase, I have had a difficult time finding a holster and speedloaders for it. As a new Glock owner, one of the things I'm beginning to like is the amount of readily available accessories for it.

have u looked on brownells. com? forsure they will atleast have the 6 shot speed loaders ur looking for

357 is really fun! Shoot a pumpkin with a 9mm then a 357 then tell me. The 9mm for cost so you can shoot alot or reload and get the 357/38. My second handgun was a 22 and should of been my first. Have fun

I went through the same decision recently (though it was Ruger GP100 vs M&P). I went with the revolver, but I got a lot of good input when I asked about it on this forum. Part of what swayed me was that I am also planning to buy a .357/.38 lever carbine at some point. And, as we all know, revolvers are cool ;)

You can read the thread HERE if you like.

That said, I've since bought a .22 1911 and I still want the M&P or Jericho, so...

Have to agree that a 22LR is a great option for a first handgun. I had the 686 and a 9mm (CZ75), still have the 686 but I reload and accuracy was a consideration. 357Mag is fun to shoot, but I am finding the 1911 platform more fun again.

Enjoy your choice(s)!

looking for my first handgun and i was almost positive i was going to buy a 686 with a 4.2 inch barrel but i have been hearing and reading so many good things about the M&P 9mm pistol and with the range kit for $650 how can i go wrong..... right?

Where can I get the M&P 9mm with range kit for $650? Everywhere I look it seems to be more like $750.

To answer the question, I want one of each :D

22LR??? who said anything about that? ;)

This is the 22LR version (617), might want to look into one of these after you pickup a 686 :)

revolver.....?? First handgun.

Really?

Get the M & P. You will love it and have 'FUN'.

You'll love the 686 too....but it won't be as much 'Fun'

Define "fun", I have a lot of "fun" feeling and controlling the recoil of a 125 grain, .357 Magnum round @1400 FPS. I can have "fun" performing a rapid-fire mag dump with a 9mm semi-auto, but the fact that it is neutered (10 rounds) does spoil a bit of the "fun" for me.

You forgot the fun of knocking steel at 50 and 100 yards with a .357.
