S&W 686+ TALO special edition:) groups well?

I just received my new S&W from Firearms outlet . Great guys to deal with. I recently had the 5 inch barrel but this one is much better. And the wood grips look awesome.

You prefer the longer barrel? Was your 5" the slab sided barrel?

I have a 6" 686 and just picked up a 4,2" a short time ago. I'm really loving the handling of the shorty

It was the unfluted barrel ( seems to be rare). The 5 was a really nice gun and a tack driver but I just like the looks of the 6 inch barrel. The wood grips is the cats azz too.

That's a beauty! I've always liked the looks of those guns. I agree about the grips.....can't understand what people see in ugly black rubber grips.

They sure are a fine looking gun . I had t 5 inch with black rubber grips and back ordered a pair of wood Grip. Anyway I sold the 5 and got the Talo. I just got a shipping notification from brownells, the wood grips I had on back order have been shipped ( I forgot all about them lol). I can't imagine them being any nicer than the grips I have now , so maybe they're destined for the EE.

I had one, never got it to the range, and then foolishly sold it. The wood stocks are beauty on it for sure. Luckily, I still have a 686 no dash, with 8 3/8" barrel to keep me happy.....

I have a 686 Talo as well. Ordered it having never held one and was nervous about the grips. I have smaller hands and these grips feel very good and fit me surprisingly well. They are beauties and I have no regrets with this purchase at all.

Soooo.. How do you recommend cleaning the 686? I've been using my finger on the cylinder and other areas .

Just wipe it down with G96. Whatever you do, don't use Flitz stainless polish.

It sure is a pretty gun. Here in Southern Ontario, some dealers periodically have them and some never do! I can't remember seeing any TALOs at Ellwood Epps.

Also, I read online that the rate of imperfection and QC problems with these guns are the same as the other S&Ws, so TALO really doesn't raise the bar by demanding a better QC for their exclusive product.

Like Brian said they do appear to be hardwood, they are supposedly Rosewood TALO exclusive grips made by Altamont. I love the S&W logo in them, looks dead ###y.
