I have recently acquired a s&w 686-3 . Made in 92. Has Hogue rubber grips and the original grips. It is in excellent condition. Anyone know what it would be worth? I am not selling it but would still like to know the value. I would think $600-800 sound right?

686-3 was long considered the 'best' 686... before the internal locks, and still quality internal parts.

The USED to go for about $500-$600 all day... but now it' more like $700+.

I don't get the deal with "boxes". Are they worth that much ($100) if so, I have one, to the first gentlemen to EMT me $50 plus shipping:d

I'll probably never sell my 686-3 so have no need for the box.

OK thanks for the replys. I will try to keep it in good condition but it won`t be a total safe queen. Probably won`t shoot it too much as the ammo is expensive. Maybe I will get into reloading some day.

My almost brand new 686-3 was $625 out the door from Italian Sporting in 2003. This has over 3K rounds now and is my keeper. Looks none the worse for wear. My other well used but not abused 686-3 with holster was 500$ from a buddy. also in 2003. Sold it back to him. Not a bad investment but there are so many 686s around and more are made every day, that they will not really appreciate like the models that are out of production.
