**S&W 686 with 5" Barrel - Value?**

5" S&w 686

Nice revolver - good pictures. I have a 6", so is that 1" better than yours?
Try to visualize that beautiful revolver 50 years from now, 100 years from now, a 1000 years from now.
Is everything in life impermanent? Your nice revolver too? So what do you (and I for that matter) really have? Is the source of all our misery our ego?
Take it out to the range and have fun with it, while you can.

Wow!! 5" unfluted 686....

Back to your question....I have one in the 6" configuration called the Classic Hunter (I switched the Hogues to Pachmayrs on mine). I've seen a lightly used one at a gunstore with scope mounts for 950 and there is currently one in the EE, unfired, for 850. I know these prices are for the 6" ones and I can't fathom a guess on what the 5" one is worth, like you said they are hard to find. Yours is the first one I've seen but is it a 'collectable' with them being widely sought after? With anything it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it....

I see used 686's on the EE in the $550 - $750 range with the factory 6" barrels with either the red ramp, patridge or fully adjustable front sites.

But yours is like NIB, factory 5" barrel, unfluted cylinder... not too many of them in Canada I would hazzard to guess. Of 'course value will dictate what the market will bear but you could probably get $850 - $950 for it, I'll bet.
