S&W 745 (IPSC)? Anyone got one?

I have one. Great gun, feels great in my hand and recoil is mild. Haven't shot IPSC with it but lots of fun at the range. What are they going for these days?

For someone getting into one now, getting mags, mag carriers and holsters would be difficult. Do the mags fit 1911 carriers?
As for price, who knows? They don't come up for sale, even less than 610s, so I guess it's a sellers market.

US sites on the S&W forum a few years ago say about $750-$800 US.
I would venture that $1000Can with 3 mags is not a bad price here.

Oh you mean this old thing??

Same as the IPSC without the custom rollmarks. Good thing cuz then I would have to wear Spandex and carry a lot of gear :)
Shoots terrific. I wish I could do the gun justice.

I've got two as well. One is standard, and the other one was gussied up with an oversized safety, mag well, Bo-Mar rear sight and Bar-sto barrel with comp. The single action trigger is nearly as good as a 52. I like them very much.

Ive got a 745.

Blue slide with stainless frame, single action and fixed high profile "Novak like" rear sight.
The thing is big, heavy and Very accurate. Totally reliable.

I have small hands and I can't shoot it well aside from bullseye slow fire shooting. It fits big mitts well but moves around and is clunky handling in my slightly smaller than average hands.
But the pistol is mechanically very accurate.
I usually shoot it wearing thin leather gloves and she is a dream.

Mine is well used, was when I bought it...looks like it was used for action competition before me. Still runs perfect and crazy accurate...like shoots circles around both my 70 series Goldcups.
I bought it as it was $300 at the time several yrs ago and seemed interesting.

I forgot about this thread! Update! I picked one up also from the EE! Wasn't $300! That's for sure! But came with a holster and 5 mags.
Definitely a heavy gun but super accurate. The Novak sights have sharp edges. Way easier to take down than a 1911.

I did notice the slide mounted safety seems to be a straight firing pin block design only. I could pull the trigger with the safety on and the hammer will drop. Is this normal? I'm used to 1911s and other single action designs that when the safety is engaged, the hammer can't drop when the trigger is pulled?
