anyone have any experiance with the 745, i know they were only made for 4 years 86-90, any pro's/cons, i have been offered 1 with the non adjustable rear sights
any insight would be appreciated

It has been years since I have shot my father's... But I really enjoyed it and shot it every opportunity I had... With the same loads it definitely seemed to shoot softer than a 1911, but that is a very subjective observation... It was very accurate for an out of the box pistol and it had a very nice trigger... My personal preference with auto's, is a pivoting trigger like the 745 versus a sliding trigger like a 1911...

My father's one is a little unique as it has German proofs and it is the IPSC commemorative version, it was brought back from Germany by a member of the forces...

I have a 645....same thing except traditional d/a trigger. Has all the features you want on an auto...bushingless barrel, ramped barrel, nice trigger, all steel. Used in Miami Vice for a time too :)

Nice accurate pistols.I have 2 of them, one factory, and one with a comped Bar sto barrel.Great to shoot, but you have to match the recoil spring to the load you are using. My comped 745 used to make my trigger finger sting like hell till I put the proper spring in it.

645 has a DA/SA trigger while the 745 is SAO?

I had one when they first came out and shot IPSC with it for 5 yrs. Very accurate and it cycled all loads thru it without issues . Alot of 1911 needed work out of the box to feed and function. Some times I wish I have not sold mine when I bought a pricey race gun ($4,000) that took a while to get running.

Buddy has one. I like it. It"s got character, which is good. As another stated, I found it very accurate.

Don't think he really understood how much it would cost to shoot 2-400 per week even as a reloader.

He does now ;)

The 645 I just got from the EE is pretty sweet... had to get the camera out and experiment. Haven't shot it yet, but the trigger feels fantastic!
