Wow. In double action at that
Jerry is certainly one of the very best hand gun shooters to date!
But what he did there I think could be repeated by the more skilled of us mere mortals, I think with a few tries I could ring that plate without much difficulty. Of course I haven't had the opportunity to be on a 1000 yard long range with a handgun of any sort, someday hopefully!
Back in the 70's and 80's in canada when silhouette was big, guys were clearing sets of 10 or 20 chickens at 300m, with nothing more than open sights and revolvers. Of course those guys were international class, but still there was a few and a lot more in the US
You didn't see Jerry rushing to do it again. Once is what he did. He might have stood there for month and never do it again. Who is to know. He did it once and that is enough to say he did it. I doubt I could see the plate at 1,000 yards let alone the balloon. 1K yards is a very long way and the drop aka holdover is over 100'.
Take Care
Bob
I somehow don't think that was the first time Jerry did that as it would take a fair bit of shooting just to get the elevation worked out. The balloon of coarse, was simply a prop for the video, the point of the exercise was to hit the steel, and he did it. I don't think I could, but then again, I can't do a bunch of the stuff that guy does.
There's a mythical guy in Quebec that claims to be able to have made that shot with a 22LR
Nice shot by the great Jerry Miculek
