Bought an original S&W Schofield and got on the S&W website to order
their new Schofield case. Would have had it shipped to an US address to keep things simple.
Here is the reply I got.

Subject: wood case

Meanea,

I am writing to inform you that we cannot process your order due to regulations in your country, no wood products are allowed. You will need to find an exporter in your area that will be able to order the items for you. Perhaps you can call M.D. Charlton at 250-652-5266 or Wortner Gun Works at 519-352-0924. We cannot ship a wood product to you in the USA knowing that it will be potentially going to Canada. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you.

Regards,
Smith & Wesson

Dear S&W
Fcuk you
Meanea

I can not buy for what I will do in the future???????????????????????

Wow, next you know they won't sell you a car cause you might speed. Give me a break. And since when are wood products not allowed up here? I bet the wood came from Canada.

Dear G. W. Bush,

We are no longer able to send petroleum products to your country knowing that you might potentially burn it in your cars, make products with it, or use it for power generation.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you.

We shouldn't let them have any water either for we know they will just piss it away.

It's a box, right - a wooden box??? This is bullsh*t, they're saying they won't ship you a wooden box because Canadian law doesn't allow it. Ask them to provide a reference to the specific regulation they are referring to. And tell them to stop being smart asses.

I love these weenies who work for corporations and sign letters/e-mails with the corporate name and not their own name.....I'd call and speak with someone at S&W about the order and hear it from a 'live' person. Geez, what do they use for 'wood' that would make this item prohibited. :jerkit:

Seeing that they mention MD Charleton....I wonder if it's a 'dealer' type issue similar to the Bombadier fiasco.....

Actually, its not surprising. Try brining wood through customs from outside the country. You'll always get stopped. If the wood has any bare spots i.e. not sealed with varnish, paint, etc. they will confiscate it. Maybe this is the case with your wooden box? You might be able to fight them if this is the case.

Best of luck.

Bare spots? Acoustic guitars, and other acoustic instruments are left unfinished on the insides.

Thats too pretty for an insect to live in. Its nothing more than a piece of furniture. I think the woman at S&W should look a little deeper into the rules. I'd try and get a hold of someone else there.

I know of a Beretta 92 compact in exc. shape for sale here on the island..

Don't have my licence yet, not until late November earliest. I think I'd be interested in a full size 92FS, Ellwood Eps has a few, but thanks.

I wonder if it's because the box is specifically for a firearm?

I've been thru this when importing wood from the US. There's essentially two key classifications: 1) wood that originates FROM trees grown in the US, and 2) wood from the the US that was actually imported into the US from somewhere else. You can get someone to examine and certify it for about $50. (Or you can send it to a friend in the US and pick it up on a personal trip..).. here's some more info

This is a canadian regulation they're following, not an american one. Importing wood from the states is regulated to stop various boring insects. There are signs up on the 401 on the subject as soon as you cross at windsor, so don't beat S&W up for what we won't let them do.

PS For all the George Bush slammers, wait and see how good it gets if Hillary gets in. He may not be perfect but he's a hell of a lot better then any democrat candidate...
