I just purchased a K38 masterpiece and don't have access to a S&W catalog.
Can anyone look up the year of manufacture for my revolver?

Looks like probably1956 for the shipping date. Apparently no records exist on the actual production date. It is known that some guns sat in inventory for a long time before being shipped.

Should be a fun gun to shoot and very accurate. I have a 38/44 (N frame) shipped in 1938 and a K22 shipped in 1948.

I agree with Pioneer. Probably made in the last few months of '56.

I love my S&W 38 Specials, also an N-frame 5 inch fixed sight, Heavy Duty made in 1940, and used by the BCPP & at the other end,
a K-frame in stainless steel, Model 64-3 with a retrofit six inch target barrel circa 1985. (I am not 12. anything)
