Don't know if this is the right forum, but the rifle IS a scary and Restricted status look-alike of a regular AR. These are on sale locally for $400, representing an alleged $200 discount off the MSRP. I know nothing about them, so my questions basically are: Is it worth buying one? What is the situation with extra magazines for them? What do Justin and the LPOC have planned for them?

I owned one for awhile, it was decent for the price, fed all the different ammo I tried. Polymer upper and lower, lightweight, same controls as 5.56 AR.
Mags are easy to source but you are limited to 10 rd mags in a restricted .22LR. So a bit of a buzz kill at the range, thanks RCMP.
If I do a rimfire again it will be a CMMG .22 conversion kit with the 25 rd mags.

The 15-22 is a fantastic rifle, very accurate and $400 is a great price for one, I have bought 3 and the cheapest I've paid is $429 on sale. I use mine as a cheap AR trainer as it does mimic the AR closer than any other .22 out there, and to me I don't even mind the 10 round mags as that is what I'm using in competition with my AR , so once again, good training and muscle memory :)
That being said,,I am one of the few that were lucky enough to get my hands on a few of the Plinker 35 round mags when they were around, lol, perfect for speed steel but almost impossible to find now.
Nuthinfancy has an excellent review of the 15-22 on YouTube, have a look

I have the new one with the m-lok shroud. Love it a lot. All ofy friends who've shot it love it as well. Fantastic trainer if you're looking to get into a full-size ar15 later. Cleanup is almost identical to the full-size. Which if you hate cleaning g you'll appreciate the simplicity. Only problem I have is that mags are hard to find lately. Been waiting a few months for my range to secure me some. Might just bite the bullet and try irunguns for them. Overall I don't think you'll be disappointed. Tons of upgradability.

Where are you getting your mags from??

Firearms Outlet Canada has them in stock, also Bullseye I believe and a few others, just use your search engine, not hard to find :)
Durham Outdoors also has them, but they have the short and long ones with the red follower which are much better imho than the ones with the blue follower. For some reason there is no pull down tab on the ones with the blue follower to assist loading, not a great design

Ok, I'll bite on the sale price but this will be the last AR design I buy ever, I swear. It does make sense to have a .22LR to practice on, hope the Libs agree.

And now, more magazines to buy.

Thank for the tip I'll take a look .

Bought a first gen one within a month of it coming out. Shot around 10 thousands of rounds through it. Great shooter! Functions just like full size AR. Just read manual, a few types of ammo don't work well with the action - Thunderbolt being one.

For that price it's an awesome deal.

On pg 10, my manual has a stern warning about not using CCI Stinger ammo, due to the longer case. Then on pg 11, it goes on to state that this only applies to 15-22 rifles stamped 'performance centre,' which mine isn't. That's the only time ammo is mentioned. But it wouldn't matter anyway because I don't buy Stinger, based on experience.

One thing, there sure was a plentiful supply of grease in the barrel. Glad I decided to clean it first and not just take it to the range and shoot it out, as I might have done if the rifle wasn't restricted.

Pretty slick little rifle, it's now my most fun thing to shoot for sure. I have a quibble about the folding stock ("the thing that goes up in the back") because you get way too much wobble when mounting it against your shoulder and sighting. Fortunately of course there's the lego factor. Anyway, it's nice that the ammo is so relatively cheap, that's the big thing.

They really are a fantastic rifle aren't they! If this thing was non restricted they would sell a ton of them :)
Since I do all my shooting at the range that is just not an issue for me.

I always thought that the best-to-own .22 AR was the Sig 522, which I'd seen examples of in the USA but which did not seem to be available in the Canada, at least at the time. But I now realise the 15-22 is actually better in that it functions just like a regular centrefire AR and it's a puzzle to me that I'd never came across one before, not even in the open stores in the USA. Maybe they're just too popular to stay on the shelves, but Cabelas found fit to put them on sale for 1/3 off the regular price this time, so I don't know. Lousy marketing maybe.

The first gen had extractor issues. They have now upgraded them, that must be why they allow more ammo types. I use cci standard and federal auto match. Both work great under 50 yards, my normal distance.
