S&W M&P 9mm magazines

I have a S&W M&P 9mm handgun. The magazines only hold 9 rounds, no matter how hard I try to put the 10th cartridge in. The gun is advertised as having 10 shot magazines. Took the mags apart and everything looks factory original. Has anyone else run into this problem and is there a fix to get the 10th cartridge in? Thanks in advance, Jack

Yes, common issue.
Shave a little (1/8"ish) off the legs on the follower to fix the problem.

And leave them loaded for a while, helps ease the springs. If you take off 3/16”, you can load on a closed bolt, too.

If after shaving the follower you still cannot insert a magazine with 10 rounds with closed slide, you may need to cut the last coil or two from the spring.

I wouldn’t trim the springs (and I didn’t need to on my m+p mags).

+1 for sanding down the follower legs, that’s all that is necessary, no need to trim the springs.
