Purchased a M&P for the wife. Very simular to the glock. Just wondering, as like the glock, if it was fine to dry fire the M&P? It does have a lever you can push down so you don't have to dry fire for disassembly.

No problems dry firing mine, however I use snap caps, less likely for the firing pin to "overtravel" and easier on the slide slamming forward.

Yeah,
No problem. I have had one for a long time. I bought it shortly after we got them in Canada. Love the pistol and dry firing is fine even without the snap caps. I checked on this with Smith and wesson. I think its even on their website in the FAQs

Mine had a really gritty trigger when I got it. I've probably dry fired it more than I've actually put live rounds through it. The trigger is finally getting better and I kind of like shooting it now.

It (M&P) does have a lever you can push down so you don't have to dry fire for disassembly.

It is just a "safety feature" intended to prevent a negligent discharge. Some people are critical of designs that require pulling the trigger during field stripping.

I got one the lever you are referring to must be the mag safety......it need a mag inserted to fire the pistol....for cop's or military in a hand fight if they believe that are about to loose their firearm he just have to drop the mag and his adversary cannot fire the gun until he re-insert the mag....
