S&W M&P Difficult To Load Mags

Uh... sarcasm?

Ya think? I wonder what gave it away? The LMAO? The plethora of smilies?

Or not an M&P owner maybe. Sure, after a bit you could force a round in... but if you are doing a 200 round range session, this issue will bring your day to a miserable conclusion.

I guess you didn't make it to the first reply on this thread? Hint, it's me...

Very little difference between the two models. I wouldn't bother "upgrading" if you already have the 1.0. The nicest improvement for me was the grip texture but that hardly constitutes a need for change. In terms of accuracy all I can say is that it's a striker-fired polymer handgun, it will shoot just like the other 5000 models available, lol.

Still easier to use an UpLula.

Of course it is, that's why everyone should own one.

Well....in owning three Glocks, and a RAP, I can load to 7-8 rounds without discomfort to my fingers without using my Uplula. For the last couple I use the charger. I find that I only load to 5 alternating magazines when at the range. Extends the time there as well as the enjoyment.
Did the semi-auto's used in WW2 need Uplula chargers back in the day? Or did the magazines of the day allow for hand loading of magazines...? I suggest the latter a little more field friendly....

LOL, there is a reason the M&P Range Kit includes the UpLULA. I too have the same issue with mine and over come it by using the loader. I removed the followers and sanded down the legs so that 10th goes in easier with the loader, it was virtually impossible to load the last one in without really pressing down on the UpLULA, so much so that I feared it would break.

I like the UpLULA even bought one for the LAR-15 mags now that they sport Ranger Plates.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I had tried a friend's M&P before I bought mine - he loaded mags while I was shooting it. So I didn't get the thrill of loading the M&P mags myself until I had my own.

Eh, I load my 10 round Glock mags by hand, but the UpLula makes it handier and faster. Also handier to use to load M&P Mags (which are a bastard) and even Norc NP29 9mm mags (because they're catchy).

I just fixed mine. Was probably less than 15 min. work for 4 mags.
Besides the "leg" trimming I snipped off two coils from the spring and it's all good now.

Two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time. The followers bottom out on the springs. Use will not improve the situation one bit. Trimming the followers is the only answer for the problem. Not that this will help but the first blued mags the M&P came with worked just fine. Then S&W changed the follower/supplier and we got the black finish and the rest is history. The pinned regular mags work just fine......

Take Care

Bob
