The VTAC was designed in full cooperation between S&W and Sergeant Major Kyle Lamb, US Army Special Forces (Ret), a veteran of the Mogadishu conflict in the 1990s and many other operations with USSOCOM. The owner/operator of Viking Tactics (VTAC) and a great embodiment of the ethos of the "quiet professional", Kyle designed the improvements around the needs of modern tactical shooters and included VTAC Warrior sights with both tritium and fiber optics, and a no-snag rapid engagement design free of the external safety and magazine disconnect safety available on some M&P models at the time the VTAC was on the drawing board. It is coated with a durable finish for arid environments and handles extremely rapidly.

The Pro Series is based on feedback from the sport shooting community, particularly IPSC shooters, who wanted a factory option to take the M&P pistols many shooters are accustomed to shooting and enhance them for use at the range. These feature a 5" barrel with the longer sight radius to match, and brilliant fiber optic sights for clean shots even at long range in a competition environment. These are considered by a lot of M&P fans to be the softest shooting of the bunch with the highest potential for accuracy, thanks to the increased slide mass and the sight radius.
These just came in the door as we were closing up the shop, and because I am a glutton for punishment I sat down at the keyboard and made sure CGN knew about them before I got my hands on a cold beer! Gary did threaten to "glass me like a mirror" with a bottle if I didn't, though.
