I saw a few pics of these guns. Anyone familiar with them? Are they good or junk?

The plot thickens!

are they availabe for to civilians in the US? I know not that long ago S&W did not even have a price on 'em on their website...

More Glock Clones!

On the "new" S&W and Kimber polymer frame guns... imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... Glock's got the lock on the market! :p

They will be available to civvies.

There will be a few at SHOT Show.

I have spoken to someone who has tried it, and he said that the trigger was nice, the gun felt very good in his hand and it was a pleasant gun to handle.

Time will tell! :)

Smith's new M&P has been available in gunshops in the US for a month or more. Most US gunranges now have them and are renting them.
What's with this "Glock clone" nonsense...? Just because a gun has a plastic frame, it doesn't make it a "Glock clone", any more than a Saturn is a Corvette clone because it's got plastic doors..

100% correct.

In fact, if we want to split straws we should point out that Glock was NOT the first pistol to have a polymer (plastic) frame. In fact, if you are calling a pistol a 'clone' based on the way its frame is constructed, then the Glock is a Heckler and Koch VP70Z clone. :)

Who Said "Glock Clone"??

Who said anything about them being a "Glock clone"? And yeah, Glock wasn't the first polymer frame gun on the market. But Glock was the first commercially successful polymer frame gun on the market...;)

And like I said, Glock's got the lock on the market. Like it or not, all that follow will be compared to and judged against it. :p
