bwaahahahaha

Nice. Could use that fellow to predict a bunch of outstanding issues...

By "prohibited", I'm assuming you all mean "restricted", right?

And yes, Soli, we know you're bitter about the GSG-5 and the Umarex. We all are. Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. Doing something about it helps, too.

We know the laws. Let them know that we know the laws.

And this has helped us out with the aforementioned two firearms how, exactly? Even after being given proper documentation that renders their past classifications null, the RCMP still holds steadfast to them. It's just their way of saying "we can do whatever we want since the power is all on this side of the line."

Don't get me wrong, I still have high hopes that things will change, but I'm no longer naive enough to believe it'll really happen.

Fool me once, you can't get fooled again! /bush

Update!!!

Well I just saw another episode of "Guns and ammo TV" they were doing a follow up to the first bit with a S&W AR .22.

Apparently the lower can be changed out with other AR lowers, but the lower on this model cannot be used on other AR's (just not built strong enough). After market trigger kits will drop right in as well. You cannot change the upper, (lower not designed for it) but this is designed as a "training aid" for police and military. They wanted a platform that would behave like, and have the same controls, as a normal AR.

This means if you have an AR, and a tricked out trigger/lower, all you have to do is switch the lower between the two to have the exact feel. I don't know how easy it is to change a lower, but it seems to me this is a viable option verses a .22 conversion in an AR.

Also pretty much every available AR bolt-on aftermarket part will be compatible, sights, stocks, fore grips etc.

I know almost nothing about the AR type of firearms, but from what I do know/understand about them, this seems to be a really stable platform.

Another plus I see is that this will be competition for the "conversion kits" currently availabe for the 5.56 ar's, for not a bunch more money.

Now the down side........

If the lower is the same as an AR, and all the AR parts will fit.....

There is NO WAY this will not be restricted.... They are going to call this a "variant".

I do know (for sure, I am positive!!!!) this is now at the top of my "got to have" list!

Cheers!

Exactly. Restricted .22? No thanks. As many have said already, sign me up if it's under $600 and non-restricted.
